The Company
Mineral Commodities Ltd (MRC) is a rapidly growing ASX listed resource company, with a strong financial outlook and expanding business prospects. The Company’s flagship asset is its Tormin Mineral Sands mine, located in South Africa, 400 kilometres north of Cape Town in a world class resource area. The Company owns and operates the Skaland Graphite Operation in Norway, the world’s highest-grade operating flake graphite mine and is the only producer in Europe. The planned development of the Munglinup Graphite Project, located in Western Australia, is a further step toward an integrated, downstream value-adding strategy which aims to capitalise on the fast-growing demand for sustainably manufactured lithium-ion batteries.
The Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Group Accountant with a strong financial accounting background, outstanding analytical and reporting skills with the role based at the Company’s head office in Belmont. The position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and requires solid knowledge of financial accounting, financial modelling and corporate taxation. The position will have extensive dealings with senior executives, auditors, bankers and advisors. You will use and analyse data to drive decision making, deliver insightful and timely financial reports. You will have a positive and energetic style, with outstanding communication skills.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of month end consolidation process and financial reporting, including analytical and variance analysis
- Management of audit compliance process including preparation of audit files and statutory reporting
- Management of MRC corporate taxation reporting including tax consolidations
- Management of MRC’s South African and Norwegian entities statutory financial reporting
- Management of MRC’s South African and Norwegian entities taxation reporting
- Business performance reporting and control, analytical methods and business modelling, including board, executive and operations
- Liaising with external auditors and taxation consultants as required
- Support and assistance with forecasting process
- Assisting in accounting systems and financial reporting design, implementation and support
- Support and assistance with international transactions and intercompany arrangements
- Support and assistance with the corporate treasury function
The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Qualified CA (or equivalent) with at least 7 years' total financial, business or analytical experience in professional (Audit), commercial environment and ASX Listed Companies
- High level understanding of financial accounting and modelling
- Relevant industry expertise within mining, mineral resource development, engineering, construction, contracting or similar preferred
- Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen
- Experience with multiple currencies and foreign currency translation preferred
- Microsoft Office capability – advanced MS Excel knowledge
- Attention to detail, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to both delegate and work hands on
- Strong customer focus and with and ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
