Group Accountant - Construction Materials
Role Description
This established construction materials company based in the western suburbs of Melbourne are searching for a Group Accountant to lead the finance function. The role will report into the CEO of the group.
This is a full-time on-site role for a Group Accountant Who will be responsible for managing financial activities with day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely distribution of payments, monitoring cash flow, and preparing financial reports.
The Employee's duties and responsibilities are:
Cash Management
Maintain and analyse weekly cash flow statements.
Facilitate uploading of payments to designated bank accounts.
Process and manage BPAY transactions.
Prepare bank cheques as required.
Maintenance and management of multiple bank accounts and facilities where required.
Daily bank reconciliations
Financial Reporting
Execute end-of-month journal entries including prepayments and accruals.
Review job cost reports, making necessary adjustments.
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements.
Responsible for the completion of monthly financial reports.
Responsible for the completion of annual financial reports for submission to external tax agents and advisor.
Responsible for the completion of ad hoc financial reporting requirements.
Overseeing of and responsible for the timeliness of reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Undertake reviews where required.
Qualifications
Excellent knowledge in accounting principles and practices
Experience managing financial activities for a group of companies
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong communication, stakeholder management and team management skills
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CA certification is preferred
