Position Overview:

As we continue our growth trajectory, we are seeking to further enhance our enterprise Risk and Compliance capabilities for our business. The Risk and Compliance Manager will oversee our enterprise risk management practices and support key internal stakeholders in meeting legislative requirements in compliance, legal, operational, security and financial risk areas. 

This key role has direct accountability to the Executive Leadership Team, owning the risk policy and representing MLG in the enterprise risk management function. Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and sustain the MLG Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • Being the primary contact for all risk management and Compliance matters.
  • Designing, developing and implementing robust risk treatment and management process plans.
  • Providing timely feedback and reports to the Executive Leadership Team and the Risk and Compliance Committee on key Risk and Compliance matters.
  • Identifying, assessing and prioritising risks across stakeholders and projects.
  • Supporting mitigation strategies and control measures to minimize risk exposure.
  • Leading internal audits and conducting regular risk assessments.
  • Managing external certifications and third-party audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, AS/NZS standards and ISO 31000.
  • Capturing and recording accurate data to analyse MLG’s risk profile.
  • Enhancing risk maturity across MLG from a mitigation perspective.

We are seeking someone with the following:

  • At least 7+ years’ operational risk experience in a similar role within heavy industry, resources or high reliability sectors.
  • Proven senior experience, operating across all levels of the organisation, including Executive and Board interactions.
  • Qualifications in Integrated Enterprise Risk Management, Lead Auditor, Quality Management Systems, OH&S Management Systems or related fields.
  • Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Auditor Certification is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge in risk management principles and concepts.
  • Extensive expertise in the following operational areas:
    • Plant and equipment;
    • Heavy vehicle regulation and Compliance;
    • Supply chains;
    • Work health and safety;
    • Environmental protection;
    • Industrial relations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and risk qualification modelling.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High ability to engage and develop strong working relationships from site to Board level.
  • A pragmatic, consultative approach.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
