Job DescriptionOceanaGold is seeking a professional and highly motivated
Group Manager Tailings to join our Technical and Projects team. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Chief Technical & Projects Officer. The role is responsible for tailings management practices, robust governance framework, build future capability through integration of new technologies and focus on sustainability and safe closure of these landforms to our host communities. The role requires working closely with the assets and ensuring safety and operability of the tailing dam over the operation's life cycle.
Key tasks and responsibilities:- Support development and delivery of OceanaGold's tailings and dams' strategy in line with corporate safety, sustainability, and water management goals.
- Provide subject matter expertise to support responsible and effective management of existing and future facilities.
- Build evaluation criterion that guides the safety, social and financial decisions for incremental lifts.
- Responsible for driving alignment with GISTM - project.
- Manages the GISTM Alignment Plan, management reporting against plan, knowledge management, systems, and processes.
- Supports and engages with Executive Leaderships and Board regarding current state, risk management and GISTM.
- Ensure OceanaGold safety, environment and sustainability policies are upheld in all functional interactions.
- Provide technical support for engagement with the community and other stakeholders to support licence to operate.
- Develop technical capability and future skills development that guides towards leading practice in Tailings management.
- Lead the development of inclusive and cohesive teams working together to deliver safe and productive objectives.
- Visible leadership and stakeholder management across all sites.
- Supporting safe delivery of site balanced business plans and working with the sites to ensure safe operations of the tailings dam.
- Provide SME support to develop suitable TARPS (Trigger Action Response Plan).
- Guide site specific actions in seeking GISTM implementation towards technical, environment and social performance.
- Supporting sites in developing Life of Mine and annual capital budgets for the Tailing dam raises.
- Seeking synergies, standardization, and improvement opportunities across sites in achieving best commercial and financial return on the investments.
Qualifications- Bachelor or M.Sc Mining/Civil/Geotechnical or Hydrogeological Engineering - Preferable
- Experience in geotechnical engineering dam design/ tailings management/ water management.
- Operational and functional experience of Tailings management across multiple sites and geographical settings.
- Has a strong broad understanding of current and future technologies and their application.
- Proficiency in project and stakeholder management including leading tailings technical and functional expertise.
- Competent in commercial skills and provides due diligence to support M&A activities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence individuals and groups across various geographies, cultures, and operating paradigms.
- Able to constructive challenge and resolve complex issues and divergent items to reach the best business outcome.
