Habitat Creations is a family-owned company specialising in large-scale urban landscaping, natural environment remediation and revegetation, and native plant supply via our Wholesale Nursery. Our Nursery division is where the Habitat Creations story began and is still the backbone of our entire operations.
Our Nursery team grows several million indigenous aquatic and terrestrial plants per year, supplying the landscaping industry, state and local government, water authorities, catchment management authorities, private landholders and our own Landscaping and Environment projects. The Opportunity:This is a dynamic, multi-faceted role overseeing all Nursery Operations. The role requires strong planning skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritise, and extensive Horticulture and Production Nursery knowledge to effectively manage the Habitat Creations’ Seed Bank, Propagation, Production, Plant Health and Maintenance Programs and Nursery Infrastructure.
Working closely with the Directors, General Manager, and Nursery Management Team, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in the current operations and future direction of the Horticulture Division of Habitat Creations as we continue to make our mark on the Industry and the Environment at-large.
Key Skills, Experience and QualificationsEssential
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar management role in a Wholesale Plant Nursery (preferably native plants).
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or;
- Experience in the management of propagation and production programs, techniques, and collection of electronic records
- Experience in the provision of horticultural services and programs with a diverse range of plant materials, and the maintenance/use of associated plant/equipment in accordance with nursery hygiene practices.
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of work and maintenance plans, project management and research skills.
- Proven experience in the coordination, operational maintenance and team leadership in the nursery environment.
- Ability to optimise plant performance, including: nutritional requirements; knowledge of weed, pest and disease identification, and control using IPM strategies
- Experience with irrigation systems
- Maintenance and use of a wide range of horticultural plant and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience using computer software programs to record, maintain, and extract information.
- A current and valid Driver’s License
- First Aid Level II
