The Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Liaison Officer (HLO) is a member of the Graduate School team who provides HDR candidates with advice and support related to their candidature progression and development. They work with colleagues to understand local contexts in order to support prospective and current HDR candidates and their Advisors and also Director of Higher Degree by Research (DHDR).
Key responsibilities will include:
- Act as a key connection point for current HDR candidates, providing a contact point for enquiries and proactive support by working with colleagues and engaging support services as required
- Proactively support prospective HDR enquiries and the administration of HDR admissions and scholarship nominations
- Support the delivery of orientation and induction activities for HDR candidates
- Work with DHDRs to monitor HDR candidate progression and changing needs
- Work with the DHDR and Team Leader to support and encourage HDR engagement and development opportunities, including local seminars, and other development activities to support research training and enhance the HDR cohort experience and connectedness
- Work effectively and thoughtfully within the University's governance framework, in collaboration with colleagues, adapt and contribute to solutions which can be implemented to improve the HDR candidate experience
This full-time, fixed-term position (up to 12 months) is a parental leave replacement based at our beautiful Gatton campus.
The role includes one work-from-home day per week and occasional visits to our St Lucia campus in Brisbane.
The full-time HEW 5 equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396 - $86,029 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $90,553- $100,654 per annum.

About You- Completion of an undergraduate degree in an area of relevance and at least 2 years' subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a team and develop strong relationships with stakeholders.
- The ability to exercise initiative and judgment as appropriate.
- Highly developed organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set realistic priorities to meet deadlines and commitments.
- High-level computer literacy with demonstrated ability to adapt to new technology and systems as required.
The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
