Head Chef - 8/6 Roster - Fifo (Ex Perth)

Northern Rise Village Services (owned by Sirrom Corporation) is a leading provider of hospitality services to the resource and construction sector. Established in 2013, we have a presence in multiple remote locations throughout Australia.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef and leader to join our kitchen brigade!

If you have a genuine passion for cooking, have fly-in-fly-out experience and are looking for a rare opportunity to lead a small size kitchen operation, then we have the perfect opportunity for you!  Bring your creative flare to our remote mine-site village operations, catering for approximately 220 residents.

The point of hire is Perth.  You will enjoy working 8 days on / 6 days off at our remote village located in the Mid-West region of WA.

The Role:

• Responsible for overseeing the day to day kitchen operations
• Take ownership of the role and provide clear leadership in the kitchen
• Ensure food presentation, product presentation and meal service is to Northern Rise standards
• Work within budgeted food costs
• Maintain minimal wastage
• Ordering and stock control
• Comply with company food safety policies and procedures, adhering to the HACCP methodology, ensuring that all documentation in relation to food safety is maintained on a daily basis and periodically throughout the day, including temperature monitoring, stock control and rotation

Skills and experience required:

• Minimum 2 years work experience on a remote mine-site village
• Bulk catering experience
• Ability to keep to a budget and keep accurate records
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Problem solving skills with ability to remain calm under pressure
• Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop others
• Understanding of Food Safety principals and the HACCP methodology

What you need:

• Cookery qualifications - minimum (or equivalent) Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• National Police Clearance - not more than 6 months' old
• Food Safety for Supervisors Certificate
• FIFO experience in a similar role
• To be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen
