We are searching for an accomplished and forward-thinking Head of Analytics to join our team. This role is pivotal, leading multiple functions crucial to supporting our business. You will oversee Business Intelligence (BI) and Automation, Predictive Analytics, and Corporate Analytics, requiring a blend of technical prowess, strategic vision, and strong leadership abilities. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of data integration and insights into our operational and strategic decision-making processes.
Your core responsibilities are split into five areas (a full position description is available on request)
Leadership and Strategy
- Contribute to the strategic plan and objectives of the SDA leadership team.
- Lead data governance and stewardship from a business perspective and champion leveraging “data as an asset”
- Drive the Analytics strategy and execution alongside the Head of SDA.
- Mentor, develop, and manage the Analytics & BI team, ensuring exceptional performance and skill advancement.
- Uphold company values, culture, and performance standards as a role model and ambassador.
- Understand key Business Strategies and provide proactive Analytics support.
- Foster an analytics capability that collaborates across insurance functions for improved decision-making.
- Collaborate with key departments to develop data-driven insights and actions.
- Integrate predictive analytics into business processes for better insights.
- Oversee advanced pricing strategies for optimal insurance product/service performance.
- Ensure timely delivery of pricing information to the Pricing Committee.
- Stay updated on literature and anticipate future claims trends.
- Design and execute the overall BI strategy aligning with organizational goals.
- Implement robust BI systems for data visualization, reporting, and decision support.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities for enhanced efficiency.
- Provide analytics support to key corporate functions, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Lead the Analytics relationship and workload with the Corporate Actuary (Valuations); Finance (IFRIS & Budgeting); and Reinsurance (RI renewal).
- Identify and implement improvements in these operational processes.
The ideal candidate possesses postgraduate qualifications in actuarial studies or statistics, with a strong emphasis on leadership in analytics, critical to this is your experience within the general insurance industry. Expertise in various domains such as Business Intelligence (BI), automation, and predictive analytics is essential. Equally important are exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex insights and collaborate across teams. Proficiency in ensuring data governance and compliance is a must, alongside demonstrated experience in leading technical specialist teams, showcasing a comprehensive skill set tailored to this role's demands.
