How will I help?
We have an exciting new role available as Head of Audit Technology, Data & Projects. You will report to the General Manager Group Audit, lead the Technology, Projects and Data audit team and be responsible for the following:
- Developing and maintaining the audit risk assessment and risk-based audit plan for the Technology Division, ensuring coverage of policies, processes and controls over APRA prudential, Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory requirements. Also develop and maintain the Group-wide audit plans and risk assessments for strategic risk, change execution risk and data risk.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the data analytics audit capability, including further advancing our advanced analytics strategy to generate new audit insights (e.g. using advanced analytics techniques such as process mining, natural language processing, machine learning and artificial intelligence).
- Report on the performance and oversight of Group Audit to the GM for Group Audit, and Board Committees.
- Executing the Audit Plan including promoting the use of data analytics, remediation testing of issues, and preparing and delivering reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of the governance, risk management and internal controls to Executive Management and for inclusion in Group Audit reporting to the Board and its Committees, as appropriate.
- Motivating and leading a strong and engaged audit team, promoting Group Audit culture (including risk culture), overseeing employee selection, remuneration, performance management, resourcing, development, change management and succession planning.
- Responding to enquiries from, and providing reporting to, regulators and/or the Westpac Group's external auditor on a timely basis and in an open, constructive and cooperative way

What do I need?
To be successful for this position, you will have the following knowledge and experience:
- Undergraduate degree and Graduate degree (MBA, Accounting, Finance or related field) and Chartered Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor / Certified Information Systems Auditor / Certified Information Systems Security Professional preferred.
- Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within Risk or Internal audit or Big 4 accounting practice with relevant experience in financial services.
- Experience in Technology and Transformation / Change is required. International experience is highly regarded.
- Exceptional communication and relationship skills appropriate for senior executives and Board Committees.
- Proven leadership ability in managing professional teams and executing an audit plan for a large firm.
