The Head of Business Development & Bids role has now become a standalone role, highlighting its utmost importance for Populous. This role reports through to our Director group, but more importantly, our future team member will have the opportunity to work with team members and project leaders across the entire Asia Pacific (APAC) region who are responsible for designing and delivering the absolute worlds best sports, entertainment and aviation projects that define the communities they are built in.
Given this role is based in our amazing Brisbane office, we are open to discussing relocation from other States.

What are we looking for?
An energetic and passionate individual who can lead our Business Development & Bids team located in our thriving Brisbane Office. In this role, our future Head of Business Development & Bids will help lead strategic initiatives and coordinate with our market leaders to enhance our overall Business Development efforts and outcomes across the APAC region, all while fostering crucial relationships with government entities, clients and staying aHead of market trends.
Additionally, this role will also take full ownership and accountability for the delivery of high quality and world class bids focused on securing a strong pipeline of future work within the sports, entertainment and transport domains.
Specifically, our future Head of Business Development & Bids will be responsible for:
Business Development
Spearheading coordination activities to support market leaders in specific APAC countries, to bolster and enhance Business Development efforts.
Collaborating with market leads to formulate country-specific Business Development plans, including the creation of internal and external marketing collateral, materials and supporting communications aligned with key priorities of the relevant market/typology.
Leading the coordination of key networking events and conferences across APAC, ensuring Populous' strategic presence and developing relevant presentations and materials.
Working closely with critical government relations team members to ensure alignment and awareness of crucial relationships, meetings, and upcoming events aligned with our projects and work.
Driving the development and execution of strategic initiatives, capitalizing on tactical and aligned Business Development and marketing opportunities.
Investigate and maintain an understanding of competitors and market opportunities.
Taking the lead for APAC in implementing a customer relationship management tool, leveraging global digital capabilities and regional teams to enhance Business Development and bid activities. While concurrently identify and integrate other digital solutions to augment overall operational efficiency.
Bidding
Providing leadership and direction of the APAC bid team, including oversight, and governance of submissions and the end-to-end bid process.
Ensuring comprehensive tracking, management, and reporting of all bid and BD-related activities and expenses to effectively enhance brand and client engagement in adherence with global governance standards.
Further to this, the type of people we’re looking for are those with:
Demonstrated experience in crafting strategies and operational plans to support the implementation of broader strategic initiatives.
Proven ability to lead teams effectively, delivering on outputs and outcomes while fostering the development of team members and enhancing their capabilities.
Experience reporting to senior managements and boards on Business Development and bidding activities.
Knowledge of architectural projects and clients in sports, entertainment and cultural precincts and buildings, is desired, but not essential.
Exceptional written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations, and effective leadership and management of team members.
High-level proficiency in research, analysis, and report presentation and delivery.
High level skill in data analysis and in measuring return on investments measures and indicators.
Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to achieve work through the leadership, engagement and motivation of others.
