Job description

Eidsvold (K-12) State School are seeking applications for a Head of Department (Curriculum) to join their rural school community on a full-time temporary basis, until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.
The school has a strong focus on student-centred education and celebrates its First Nations language and culture. With approximately 120 students across K-12, our school has a family feel where students and staff are cared for and valued individually. Eidsvold is located about 430 kilometres northwest of Brisbane and a 2 hour drive to Bundaberg. Eidsvold State School is an important educational institution in the town, serving the local community and surrounding rural areas.

Your Role
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students, in preparation for the implementation of version nine of the Australian Curriculum (AC V9) in 2025.
  • Form trusting relationships with staff to build capacity in the team through a collegial coaching cycle.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Work alongside the Deputy Principal and HOSES to update policy and curriculum resources across the whole school program, and work with teaching staff in preparation for the implementation of AC V9.
About You
Must have:
  • A thorough working knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and demonstrated ability to deliver this in the classroom;
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to forge trusting relationships;
  • Willingness to work as a team and become part of a rural community;
  • Positivity and a can-do attitude.
Also highly regarded:
  • Experience in BOTH the primary multi-age and secondary settings;
  • Demonstrated cultural capability and experience working with first nations students and their families;
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice, Positive Behaviour for Learning and student-centred learning;
  • Innovation and creativity in the delivery of engaging learning experiences;
  • Previous experience in the development of a whole school curriculum plan.
