About the Role & Team:
Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for delivering exceptional events that captivate and engage diverse communities? We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Event Strategy and Delivery for ourexciting Experience Melbourne branch. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Melbourne's cultural landscape and lead a team responsible for delivering and supporting the city's most iconic events.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving comprehensive strategies, plans, and initiatives for Event Strategy, operations and Delivery, ensuring alignment with the goals of the Experience Melbourne branch. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will design integrated objectives, establish partnerships, and build connections to leverage enhanced outcomes for all events.
At the core of this role is the leadership of your team with values at the centre of everything you do. Your leadership will be crucial in promoting a culture and environment that values collaboration, innovation, and the personal and professional growth of team members.
Additionally, you will work in tandem with the Director, Experience Melbourne, to ensure branch-wide coordination, fostering a proactive and compelling events calendar. You will plan, attend, and present at internal and external forums and meetings, providing business updates and communicating program and partnership information as required.

What you will bring to City of Melbourne
Relevant Tertiary Degree together with extensive experience of working in event delivery, event planning and strategic planning, preferably within the public sector.
Significant leadership experience, preferably in a political or highly complex organisation and providing advice to senior executives essential.
Highly developed political acumen, a strong risk radar and demonstrated skills in the development and maintenance of a diverse range of successful stakeholder relationships with competing priorities.
Proven successful experience in managing teams responsible for delivering large-scale projects and events.
Demonstrated capacity for analytical, strategic, forward thinking and creative problem solving.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with the proven ability to use discretion, judgment and resilience in complex business and political environments.
Good financial literacy and a track record of managing budgets.
