The Role:

The Head of Finance directly and oversees the financial activities of Ultra Football, leads financial planning and strategy, manages financial risks, and ensures compliance with financial regulations. The role requires excellent leadership qualities, strong fiscal knowledge, and the ability to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in financial management, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments such as commercial, merchandising, retail and operations.

The Head of Finance role is crucial for ensuring Ultra Football’s financial foundation is secure, facilitating effective strategic planning and operational management, and ultimately contributing to the sustainable growth and profitability of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accountability for financial policy and frameworks across the business, to ensure best practice in financial management, capital handling, and financial reporting.
• Oversee all financial operations, including tax planning, financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting, ensuring that the business complies with all financial, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, operations, facilities and staff requirements, identifying monetary resources, and developing action plans to achieve financial goals.
• Analyse and manage financial risks and work closely with the General Manager to devise strategies for their mitigation.
• In collaboration with the General Manager, drive the implementation of the annual budget and planning process.
• Identify, diagnose and drive improvements to the way financial information is captured and reported back to the General Manager, Founders and Leadership team on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Monitor financial performance and drive desired outcomes through rigorous processes including invoicing and debtor management in addition to cost control measures across the business.
• Oversee the accurate weekly execution of payroll.
• Recognise and address liquidity risk, credit and operational risk in accordance with business requirements.
• Provide strategic partnership to the Leadership Team to analysis, advice and recommendations to support strategic and operational decisions.
• Oversee the use of financial management software to ensure that the data integrity is maintained and activity can be executed efficiently and accurately.
• Liaise with and leverage external third parties to support the delivery of financial activity as required.

• Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work culture that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively and empower team members to achieve their goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration; Professional accounting qualification such as a CPA or CFA is essential.
• Proven experience as a Head of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar role, ideally in Retail.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
• An analytical mind with strategic ability.
