The Opportunity
We're seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Health and Safety to continue building on our safety performance culture where safety is everyone's priority. Reporting to the Head of Business Systems Assurance, you will take a strategic lead in shaping ACCIONA's Health and Safety vision. Your mission will be to refine our safety systems, ensure unwavering compliance, and cultivate a safety-first mindset across our entire organization. This is a unique chance to make a tangible impact on the well-being of our people while contributing to the successful delivery of cutting-edge infrastructure, engineering, and construction projects.
Key responsibilities:
Spearhead the development and implementation of comprehensive Health & Safety strategies, systems, and initiatives that align with ACCIONA's overall goals and objectives, while mitigating the inherent risks and challenges specific to the Infrastructure, Engineering, and Construction industries.
Ensure compliance and reporting obligations are identified, recorded, and managed in accordance with relevant state/territory and Federal legislation, along with internal systems and reporting requirements.
Manage reporting requirements across Health and Safety, including input into statutory reporting, board, and executive reporting.
Lead and inspire the Health and Safety teams, fostering a culture of motivation, encouragement, and continuous development and create a high performing team environment.
Collaborate with senior leadership teams to establish robust key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to effectively measure Health & Safety performance. Analyse data to monitor progress, identify trends, and pinpoint areas for improvement. Regularly communicate performance and risk management insights, including progress updates, emerging trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement in Health & Safety practices.
Required Skills and Competencies
Proven experience in leading Health & Safety functions within large matrix organizations, with a focus on the construction sector.
Possesses a strong analytical mindset, adept at interpreting data and crafting meaningful narratives to drive informed decision-making.
Holds an advanced degree from a reputable university or in engineering, showcasing a commitment to continuous learning and expertise in the field.
Highly desirable professional certification in Health and Safety, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), indicating a dedication to excellence and proficiency in industry standards.
