About the opportunity
The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.
Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
About the role
We are currently seeking a Head of Health & Safety to join us on the Eastern Freeway- Burke to Tram Alliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the safe and successful delivery of the Project including leading the safety team and influencing the wider project teams through all aspects of Health and safety.
- Implement the Health & Safety Management Plan as well as key priority projects
- Ensure that direct or indirect HSE reports are aware of key performance expectations and their HSE accountabilities.
- Develop the HSE leadership Action Schedule and ensure all requirements within the schedule/plan are established, implemented, communicated and that responsibilities for implementing the plan are understood by senior management.
About you
- Recent experience in a Head of Safety , GM or Senior Safety Leadership role having worked across major infrastructure projects in Australia for Tier 1 organisations
- Experience working with Managing Contractor type contracts is preferred.
- You will have the results driven, collaborative leadership approach with an ability to demonstrate a high level of technical and negotiation skills.
- You will also possess strong communication skills with an ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
