About the Role & Team:

We are currently looking for a Head of Marketing and Digital to join our exciting and creative Experience Melbourne branch. Experience Melbourne is the epicentre of all things exciting in the City of Melbourne. As the Head of Marketing and Digital, you'll be at the forefront, orchestrating a symphony of creativity and innovation that showcases Melbourne as the ultimate destination.

Leading the Events Marketing, Destination Marketing and Digital Content Teams, this role manages a multi-disciplinary team that provides marketing services to support the delivery of the city's Premier Events and ensures that all destination marketing brand and Digital strategies are aligned with and compliment the branch goals and priorities.

As a key member of the Experience Melbourne Leadership team, you will actively participate in strategic planning sessions, contributing to business and program planning, performance reporting, workforce planning, governance, risk management, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and business continuity.

This role has a high level interface with internal and external stakeholders so we are really looking for someone who naturally builds and fosters strong and collaborative relationships. Understanding that you will navigate a complex and political landscape, possessing a strong news sense, risk awareness and a deep understanding of diverse audiences is essential, coupled with a high degree of political acumen.

What you will bring to City of Melbourne

  • A relevant Tertiary Qualification (marketing, advertising, communication, brand management) and relevant and successful experience in the design, development and delivery of Marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve high performance outcomes with coaching skills to develop team capabilities, team cohesion and the ability to effectively manage conflict and under performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multifaceted marketing campaigns led with a content approach, preferably in the entertainment, arts or tourism sectors.
  • Extensive experience in briefing external suppliers, project scheduling and traffic management, contract and budget management, and quality control for creative and production deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-level content management and aligned campaign delivery in a complex and busy environment, with experience in agency or marketing teams preferable.
  • Strong political acumen as well as demonstrated skills in negotiation, presentation and the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing marketing campaigns across a broad range of channels, including digitally-led, including a high-level understanding of market research, advertising, collateral production, promotions, and budget management.
  • Portfolio of work that shows an ability to drive a creative team to advance the reputation of an organisation and drive engagement.
