Our Digital team is growing as we continue to invest in delivering the best digital shopping experience for our customers. This is a great opportunity to build and lead the function and play a key role supporting the groups digital transformation.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Digital Engineering to help lead define and build the Digital Engineering strategy in alignment with Coles’ strategic objectives. Your impact will lead the evolution and uplift of engineering culture, capability and discipline.

You will lead the Digital Engineering team to simplify and modernise the core legacy tech and architectural methods, leveraging Cloud native, micro-service oriented, modularised composable key elements of future Coles’ digital core architecture. Furthermore, this role will ensure the speed-to-market delivery of high-quality software product solution and services, with high resilience engineering design. 

About you and your skills:

• An understanding of Digital and/or ecommerce
• Experience in a large-scale customer facing product and agile delivery environment.
• Demonstrated strong leadership and ability in managing large-scale digital transformation in engineering.
• Experience in digital and technology strategy development
• Expert knowledge and understanding of enterprise, digital, big data, GenAI and emerging technology.
• Experience in micro-services architectures
• Demonstrated ability to build highly effective teams and a culture of experimentation.
• Experience in building automated engineering pipelines utilising SRE, containers, CI/CD tooling.
• Experience in deploying modern testing practices.
• Experience in designing Cloud architectures - multiple/hybrid Cloud environment.
