Skyroad Group is a specialist transport and logistics provider servicing major Tier 1 multinational customers including airlines, logistics majors, and primarily linking major airports in Australia.
The Head of Customers and Operations (aka a General Manager role) reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for inputs and outputs to the board.
In addition, the following key focus areas include:
- proactivity in operational and customer facing requirements
- working with our lead customers on reporting and compliance
- operational surety with a team of Operations managers including truck allocations and load planning
- finance reporting on Operations and accounts including budgeting, profit analysis, and yield management
- staff management including front line HR process application
- employee records compliance and right to work compliance
- finance reports and budget updates for shareholders and executive team
- business improvement initiatives led by an outsourced provider domiciled in Sydney
- ability to drive a culture of customer focus and accountability in the organisation from drivers right through to operations managers

The preferred candidate has a long record of strong customer account management and industry excellence in delivering delight to customers.
The role has 4 direct reports covering the customer facing and operations . Therefore, while the role is accountable for the requirements resources are provided for delegation of workloads.
The role is salaried across normal business hours, however as we are a 24/7 business there will be a need to work adhoc hours to cover staff interfaces and to develop knowledge records based on real world observations.
Business travel is required typically between Australian major capital city airports. Some travel may be required to international clients around the world to define and scope IT and systems integrations.
Candidates must be able to satisfy:
- a University degree in operations management or a relevant business major or a relevant industry certification
- at least ten years experience in operations leadership roles in the road transport, logistics and/or air cargo industries
- proven experience managing a 24/7 operational team
- verifiable customer account leadership experience in Tier 1 customer environments
- a clear Australian Federal Police criminal check
- 100 points of Australian identification
- Australian citizenship or at least 10 years of Australian permanent residency with supportable history of addresses and details for AFP checks
- ability to hold an Australian Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- familiarity and proficiency with a Transport Management System (TMS) or similar such as Cargowise One
- proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Sharepoint, and Outlook with an aptitude towards Modano (either experience or ability to learn)
