AddressThe Mancala Group is seeking to appoint a Head of Operations (HOO) to oversee the Group’s projects in Australia and overseas.
Established in 1990 Mancala has undertaken a vast range of mining services and engineering design and construction projects to all of the major mining companies within Australia as well as a number of projects overseas, mainly in the Asian Pacific region.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the HOO will oversee the overall operations of the Group and be responsible for achieving the projects financial budgets as well as ensuring all aspects of the Groups Occupational Health and Safety management systems are met.
In this pivotal role, you will drive organisational excellence by leading our operational activities. You’ll leverage your strategic mindset to optimise processes, uphold standards, and foster a culture of innovation and integrity.
Leading a team of multi-disciplinary professionals and working collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, the HOO will ensure the delivery of customer focused and cost-effective business services.
Specifically, key accountabilities include:
- Inspire and shape organisational culture through transformational leadership that instils the vision, mission and values in striving for excellence in operations delivery.
- Collaborate with the CEO & executive team to develop and implement operational strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Provide strong leadership and direction within the organisation and externally across industry and community stakeholders.
- Accountability for the profitability of the projects including performance to budget reporting.
- Contribute to strategies for growth, and ensuring alignment of structure, systems and operations to deliver strategy.
- Direct the organisation’s governance towards fulfilment of statutory and legislative requirements, quality standards, and achievement of ethical customer outcomes across operations.
- Create a culture of change and innovation to enable continuous growth and improvement.
- Coordinate and align efforts across departments to maximise organisational efficiency.
Ideally the applicant will have a strong understanding of the Australian mining industry and has obtained a professional qualification in either mining/civil engineering or other related studies. Experience in mining services activities, particularly contract mining and vertical development would be ideal but not essential.
You will be a strong people leader who demonstrates extensive experience and record of achievements at a HOO level ideally within the Mining Industry.
Your strategic commercial capability and experience as a senior leader are underpinned by your strong values. It is essential that you demonstrate superior presentation and communication skills, with a personal presence and the ability to act confidently as the leader of the operations team.
Exceptional stakeholder relationship skills will be critical for this role as you will need to develop and foster essential networks and partnerships necessary to achieve organisational objectives through periods of growth and change.

This appointment would be Head office based at Notting Hill, Victoria with the HOO travelling to project sites as required.
