About the roleAs the Head of QAI this role is to ensure the quality of our products and related systems meet our internal specifications, customer expectations and all legislative requirements through assessing, implementing, monitoring, reviewing, auditing, and verifying all elements.
Essentially it will be your responsibility to ensure the business meets all safety, quality, and compliance standards for all food items. You will develop, improve, and communicate the QAI systems and processes to achieve business goals and outcomes and use your knowledge and people skills to mentor, motivate and develop your team.
Responsibilities will be, but not limited to:
- Providing leadership, development, and guidance to the QAI team.
- The maintenance, development and ongoing review of the site Quality Management System covering multiple standards e.g. FSSC 22000, Safe Food Queensland, GMP and Environment, HACCP, Halal, Kosher and Allergen control.
- Implementation and overseeing the transition of the Quality Management System to an electronic QMS package.
- Maintaining knowledge of all relevant quality standards, regulations, Food Safety and Certification requirements.
- Managing third party and regulatory registrations, certifications and Customer audits and respond to audit reports.
- Managing, investigating, and responding to internal and external customer quality issues in a professional manner using structured root cause analysis problem solving technique.
- Driving the use of problem-solving techniques within the site and sustaining improvement through process improvements and audits.
- Identifying issues and risks through statistical analysis, internal, external, and third-party audits and develop Quality Improvement Plans for the site.
- Overseeing the induction of new and current employees within Quality and Food Safety procedures and policies.
- Assisting with development and implementation of Quality and Food Safety policies, procedures, and training.
- Support the development of new products and product launches.
- Management and quality oversight of Suppliers.
- Providing input and guidance on requirements for entering export markets and technical issues.
- Liaising with international business interests, key stakeholders, and senior leadership team.
- Batch Release decisions.
- Working with key internal stakeholders and leadership to achieve positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will have had experience hands on experience in the follow areas, but not limited to:
- 5 + years within food manufacturing-based quality management.
- Full accountability for the quality department.
- Proven track record implementing quality strategies, process improvements and initiatives.
- Managing 3rd Party registrations, certifications, and audits.
- FMCG, powders and exporting dairy products.
- Strong communication, solid leadership skills, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including external laboratories.
- Exceptional time management, planning and organisational skills.
- Sharp attention to detail.
High degree of initiative and personal responsibility.
