As Head Sommelier, you’ll be an extension of the group sommelier, managing the wine program, schmoozing regulars while maintaining a first-class style of service.
This is a chance for a strong Assistant Sommelier to take the reins and enjoy a hands-on, and service-focused role, balanced with all the fundamentals of managing the wine list. It’s all about leading from the front and being a strong presence on the floor. Excellent in maintaining organization and structure when it comes to the administrative side of the job.
There’s the usual duties of guiding the customers through the wine list in an engaged and friendly manner. As Head Sommelier, you’ll be involved in ordering, purchasing and receiving. Stock control and organising the cellar, training and development of your wine team, responsible for the wine program as well.
Additionally, we are looking for someone who really embodies “hospitality” and creates that sense of warmth and inviting atmosphere.
The Required ExperienceIdeally, you’ll have a presence and a good sense of restaurant service as you’ll be required to engage with customers on the restaurant floor in addition to wine duties. Having positive energy and stacks of confidence is essential.
Also, you’ll be someone who always remains calm in any situation, is a natural motivator and, of course, has a passion for wine!
Hours and RewardsFirst, the tips are great and consistent, approx. $300 week.
Not only will you be working in one of the most established and prominent venues in town, but you’ll also receive awesome rewards for your efforts.
You’ll be required to work a 5-day week, with the opportunity to have an additional night off a week! Salary range is Up To $100K+ Super + Tips, depending on experience.
