About the Role:
As the Health & Safety Advisor Site Transition at Torrens Island Power Station, you will be involved in leading the Health and Safety activities and managing risks associated with the planning, delivery and execution of the decommissioning and demolition of the power station. You will assess, plan, communicate and deliver programs, to reduce risks to people, assets, and the environment.
What you’ll be doing:
Provide Health & Safety advice, support, guidance and coaching to increase Health & Safety awareness and assist in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risk.
Engage, motivate and influence worked and leaders to fulfill their legal Workplace Health and Safety obligations and AGL’s behavioural and performance expectations.
Develop and distribute relevant communications to inform and educate the employees and contractors about safety issues, requirements, and expectations.
Support the delivery of Health & Safety programs for AGL Asset Closure and Transitions plans.
Support leaders on incident investigations, ensuring that root causes are identified and mitigated to prevent recurrences.
Conduct inspections, audits, and other site activities to mitigate risk or improve safety performance.
Identify trends and identify continuous improvement activities in safety practices and processes.
Proactively develop relationships and participate in safety initiatives, including regular attendance at toolbox talks and forums.
Ensure that contractors are prequalified and compliant to processes and expectations.
About You:
You will be an experienced Health and Safety Advisor with a background in heavy industrial environments. You will inspire a proactive Health and Safety culture through your demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to best practice Health & Safety processes.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Tertiary qualification in WHS Management
Extensive experience in a similar industrial H&S role
Experience promoting a positive and engaged safety culture through interactions, behavioural safety programs and assurance activities.
Experience in the power industry, industrial closures or demolitions is preferred.
Experience in large scale construction and outages / shutdowns.
Contractor and subcontractor influencing experience.
A strong systems and programs focus, including reporting, KPI’s competency assurance, health surveillance, onboarding and reward and recognition.
Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
