About the role:
- Facilitate the circulation of relevant safety information, newsletters, publications, and legislative changes.
- Provide advice, coaching and mentoring to line supervisors, the general workforce and management on Health and Safety matters including keeping EPSA Pacific fully informed of potential liabilities.
- Actively participate in the continuous improvement of safety management across MRM, through the delivery of safety projects, promotions and initiatives.
- Liaising with regional and corporate Health and Safety teams relating to the implementation of corporate safety and health policies and programs.
- Assist management in facilitation of incident investigations, compilation of evidence and information and the review process to prevent recurrence as well as safety health management system reviews.
- Assist in facilitation and actively participate in site safety meetings.
- Collecting, analysing and disseminating zero harm data.
- Establishes and maintains site registers including hazardous substances.
- Manages workplace injuries, medical management plans and workers compensation.
- Undertaking safety behavioural observations, task observations and other field-based Health and Safety related activities.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in the mining and resources industry.
- Ability to manage sensitive, private, and confidential information and records.
- Certificate IV Work Health and Safety.
- Strong computer literacy skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline.
- Sound knowledge of plant and equipment in the mining and resources industry.
- Experience working for a medium to large mine operator/contractor.
