About the role
Uniting WA has a current opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor in our People Services team. This is to provide parental leave coverage and is available as a full time or part time role (able to be negotiated)).
You will provide guidance and support to create and promote the embedding of a strong workplace safety and wellbeing culture across Uniting WA.
This is a role with a broad range of objectives, and you will be involved with tasks such as the development and implementation of safety initiatives, management of the worker's compensation process, and maintaining compliance with WHS legislation across the organisation.

About you
To be successful you will need to:
- Ensure Uniting has a fit-for-purpose, well-structured workplace Health and Safety framework inclusive of strategy, operational plans, policies and practice guidelines.
- Ensure all employees are well informed and empowered about the organisation’s safety and wellbeing culture.
- Ensure a well-structured schedule of assessments, inspections and audits are undertaken in a timely manner to support operations, meeting all legislative and contractual obligations.
- Source quantitative and qualitative WHS/HRM metrics to analyse, manage and improve organisational performance in collaboration with People Services and the management team.
- Support the development of education and training resources for employees and leaders that equip them to fulfil their respective roles and responsibilities for creating a sustainable, safe work environment.
- Pro-actively manage and report on all Workers’ compensation and injury management claims, ensuring they are effectively administered in conjunction with the worker, relevant lead, insurer, insurance broker and People Services as required.
- Undertake all other activities as the opportunity presents or as directed.
You will also need:
- Strong understanding of relevant WHS legislation and how it translates into deliverable, measurable outcomes.
- A proven ability to research, analyse information, identify key issues, draw accurate conclusions, and compile written reports.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience developing and executing various strategies in order to achieve operational outcomes.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to build strong and effective relationships with employees, and external stakeholders.
- The ability to use initiative to continually evolve the WHS and wellbeing function.
- Proactive approach to service delivery across the organisation.
- Strong ability to influence and motivate others.
- Current Western Australian Driver's Licence.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- National Police Clearance issued within the last 6 months.
