About the role:

This role will see you be responsible for the overall management of the Tamworth Hospital Clinical Information Department. Given that no two days are the same in this dynamic role, you will need to be flexible and highly responsive to the changing needs of the department and wider organisation.

At Hunter New England Local Health District, we are proud to lead the way in the NSW statewide rollout of a Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR). This will see significant changes to work practices for our Clinical Information Department, giving you the unique opportunity to be actively involved in this change.

You will report to the General Manager of Tamworth Hospital and will work collaboratively with clinicians and managers across the site. To help you thrive in this role, you will be supported with a comprehensive orientation to the service, hospital, and district. You will have access to a range of leadership and management training opportunities as well as our online Managers Help Centre. In addition, you will have monthly accountability meetings with your manager to ensure you are feeling confident in the role and are receiving the support you need.

Where you’ll be working:

Tamworth is a modern, progressive city set in a picturesque backdrop of tree covered mountains. Renowned for its diversity and experiences, Tamworth proves that a rural lifestyle can be complimented by a thriving city experience. Make life-long friends and embrace the incredible lifestyle that Tamworth has to offer!

Join our supportive and collaborative team of clinical information officers, medicolegal officers and clinical coders based at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital.

About You:

We are looking for a motivated, competent clinical information officer with a professional attitude, high level organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain good working relationships across teams and organisations.

You should be a strong leader with well-developed people management skills and the ability to successfully manage a team throughout periods of change.

You will need skills in Microsoft Office, namely Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.

Benefits:

  • Sustainable Healthcare:
    Together towards zero
  • ADO's each month (for full time employees)
  • Salary packaging options
  • Fitness Passport
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members
  • Opportunity to work and collaborate with a range of non-clinical and clinical professionals.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Health Information Management (or equivalent) or extensive experience in working in a senior position within a Health Information (Medical Record) Service.

 Additional Information:

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • This position is full time; however, part time arrangements will be considered (minimum 30 hours per week).
  • We are unable to accommodate visa sponsorship for applicants requiring a visa for this position.
