The Role:
As OH&S Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that our operations not only comply with, but lead in safety standards and practices. Reporting directly to our Safety Manager, your role will be multifaceted - from OHS compliance across projects to implementing safety initiatives. This role demands a vigilant, proactive and dedicated individual who has a passion for safety and a commitment to promoting a positive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess risks. Implement measures to mitigate identified risks
- Assist with the delivery of safety training programs for all employees. This includes company inductions, training in safe work practices, emergency procedures and on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Implement health and safety policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Regularly review and update these policies as necessary
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to identify their causes and prevent future occurrences. Prepare reports detailing these investigations
- Ensure that all operations comply with OHS legislation, regulations (COR, OHS Act/Regs), and ISO standards
- Prepare and present regular reports on the company’s health and safety performance to senior management
- Develop and implement emergency response plans. Conduct drills to ensure that all employees are familiar with these plans
- Provide advice to project managers and subcontractors on safety matters.This includes advice on safe work practices, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance
- Work closely with the Safety Manager and Project Managers to implement safety initiatives
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Qualification in Workplace Health and Safety (Cert 4 preferred)
- Previous civil construction experience is preferred, however not essential
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
- A passion for safety and a commitment to promoting a positive safety culture
