Safety Senior Advisor to join the exciting and energetic Fortescue Hydrogen Systems (FHS) team.FHS is leading Fortescue's development a portfolio of hydrogen products centred on the production of renewable hydrogen. FHS is underpinned by Fortescue's world class expertise, operational and proven capability to drive future growth.FHS has made the Final Investment Decision to build PEM50, a 50MW green hydrogen facility in Gladstone, Queensland, utilising Fortescue's own electrolyser technology. PEM50 is both a standalone plant, and a product that can be replicated for large scale hydrogen facilities.Reporting to the Manager - Readiness, the Health and
Safety Senior Advisor has accountability for the development and implementation of the HSE policies, processes, plans and procedures within the PEM50 hydrogen production facility. This includes the preparation, implementation and monitoring of all health, safety and environment systems and processes, and coordinating regulator interaction.Following the completion of the project, the Health and
Safety Senior Advisor will continue as an ongoing role in support of PEM50 as an asset and product, and its deployment to customers, as well as managing other Original Equipment Manufacturer HSE activity.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the Operational Health, Safety and Environment policies, systems and processes and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and implement project health and safety activities consistent with Fortescue health and safety systems.
- Act as the focal point for managing internal coordination of inputs required to support interaction with regulators.
- Provide HSE training, coaching and guidance to Fortescue staff and suppliers.
- Coordinate with Fortescue managers, engineers, suppliers and customers to ensure HSE standards and regulations are met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain HSE documentation, records and reports and communicate HSE performance and issues to Fortescue management and customers.
- Drive a consistent approach to the management and application of health and safety management processes across Fortescue Energy.
Qualifications and Experience- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety, or equivalent.
- 10+ years' experience in health and safety, including operational experience.
- Prior experience in a site-based role desirable.
- Prior experience in hazardous chemical/oil/gas facilities desirable.
- Working knowledge of Queensland health and safety legislation, relevant standards and codes of practice.
- Knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and maintaining health and safety management systems.
- Excellent organisation, communication, co-ordination, planning and reporting skills.
- Proven ability to manage and influence team members and develop an effective culture through mutual respect and commitment.
- Foster teamwork and build trust internally and externally with all key stakeholders.
- Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decision agreements regarding safety.
