An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic with industrial and (preferred but not essential) marine experience to join the shore-side maintenance team at our Dampier operational site.
Qualifications & experience
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be a member of the shore-based maintenance team and responsible for mechanical servicing, fault finding and repair on-board our Tug and small craft fleet within our marine operations in the Pilbara.
- Trade Certificate in Heavy Diesel, Mobile Plant or Mechanical Fitting essential.
- Proven experience in the diagnosis and repair of engine/power train and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with Caterpillar and Rolls Royce engines and systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to interact proactively and positively with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
- West Australian Manual 'C' Class Driver's Licence essential. HR licence is desirable.
- Rights to work in Australia.
- Ability to obtain/provide a National Police Clearance OR MSIC.
- Rigging, Forklift, Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights HRWL are desirable.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Adherence to safety standards and contributing to positive safe behaviours within the team.
- Adherence to all isolation, permit, and Critical Risk Management requirements under the Westug & Rio Tinto standards.
- Ability to ensure maintenance history for plant and equipment is recorded, relevant records updated and reports are entered into the CMMS.
- Take ownership with regard to preparing for work tasks by ensuring parts and stock are ordered and the relevant safety systems are utilised.
- Ensure mechanical maintenance of our tug and small craft fleet is completed on time and to a professional standard.
- Maintain, repair and fault-finding of vessel systems and components including power plants, cooling systems, gearing, hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication.
- Identify reliability issues & ways to improve repetitive failures.
- General housekeeping duties.
The Salary band for the role is $150,000 to $160,000 based on skills and experience plus 11% Superannuation and a generous Weekly living allowance.
