About the role
As the Heavy Rail Plant Operator (HRPO) you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development Asset and Maintenance (NDAM) Group.
The purpose of the Heavy Rail Plant Operator is to operate the truck and plant in the heavy category and assist with the manual labour involved with laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks.
Key Accountabilities include:
- This position is required to drive the truck and plant in the heavy category.
- Carry out Manual labouring tasks for the renewal and/or maintenance work related to the rail infrastructure.
- Participate in the replacement or renewal of track work and crossing work materials i.e., sleepers, rail, ballast, fastenings etc.
- Safely operate the plant and trucks as required.
- This position may require you to work overtime, work away from home, nightshift, and public Holidays as part of a regular pattern or roster cycle.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Certificate II Rail Infrastructure or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
- You will be a hard-working individual, extremely reliable and safety conscious with a strong team player.
- Hold a valid Heavy Combination (HC) Truck License
- Loader, Backhoe and Excavator competence as required.
- Have a zero harm safety attitude
- The ability to be flexible at times, as you may be required to work away from your Home Depot on occasion and be flexible to work overtime at other locations. The current rostered hours are Monday to Friday 7.30 to 4.00 pm.

Remuneration for this position will be paid IMW (TRACK) 2.2 $42.4808 in line with the V/Line Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019).
Current employees are expected to remain in their role for a minimum of 12 months before applying to new positions within V/Line.
