Commencing Term 3 (23rd July) an exciting opportunity has become available for an engaging, personable and organised individual to provide support to teachers and students within the Visual Arts Department. This includes assisting teachers with classroom prep and supporting students in the classroom environment.
This is a permanent part time position during school terms only, on Monday and Friday.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the classroom/art studios, photographic darkroom, kiln area and storerooms during and beyond term time
- Working with teachers to order and prepare materials, and assist with lessons
- Working effectively as a member of the Visual Arts Department
- Participating in all College Professional Development days as required and demonstrate a willingness to engage in professional learning opportunities that will enhance the skills that reflect the needs of department.
- Management and organisation of materials, deliveries and general equipment, printing photomedia
- Ordering art material, tracking orders and deliveries, organising records of expenditure, purchase orders and processing invoices
- Organising and maintaining stock, managing the materials in the storeroom as well as in the art studios. This involves ordering specific supplies based on each term’s programs
- The maintenance of equipment and facilities. For example the kiln, printmaking presses, darkroom facilities as well as photomedia studio including iMacs, studio lights and large format printer
- The Visual Arts Assistant/Technician may be required to leave the school grounds to drop off and pick up specific materials and artworks
- The digitisation of student work for archiving (annual student art exhibitions, College publications etc)
- Framing and alternating the artworks in the College exhibition spaces
- Preparation of artworks for the annual student art exhibition
- General day to day assistance to the teaching staff including preparation of materials for lessons
Experience Required:
- Visual Art qualification equivalent to Year 12 or above
- Thorough knowledge of art processes and materials
- Experience in presentation and preparation of Art Exhibitions
- Knowledge of contemporary art practices
- High degree of written and oral communication skills
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Good planning and problem solving skills
- High level of ICT skills (for example Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign)
- Strong administration skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
