The Careers Counsellor/Advisor will report to the HSC/IBDP Coordinators across both Schools and will collaborate to establish and manage programs and services relating to the school's tertiary requirements and work with the transition of students.
The Careers Counsellor will liaise with internal and external community members to ensure the success of students in their chosen pathway. They will be passionate about providing inspiration, insight, encouragement, and confidence to help students make life choices and build successful careers.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Deliver high-quality career counselling services
- Provide career advice, options to pathways and industry-relevant advice to assist student decision-making via multiple channels like drop-in sessions, appointments, class talks, presentations, workshops etc.
- Produce, update and disseminate career resources for student
- Develop and maintain referenced career-based digital content to support student cohort needs
- Maintain appropriate networks with professional agencies and educational providers to ensure the provision of up-to-date information and referral details
About our ideal candidate
You will hold a related Degree in Counselling with experience in career counselling working within a school providing counselling to young adults.
You will also have:
- Relevant career counselling experience in a tertiary environment
- Knowledge of UAC Application process
- Knowledge of the [process of applying directly to universities
- Demonstrated ability to present information and facilitate group work
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff and stakeholders at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and advocate
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration and advice-seeking skills
- Familiarity with regulation and policy relevant to government and education sectors
- Highly developed communication and analytical skills

The salary package for this position is in accordance with the Independent Schools of NSW Support & Operational Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021/ Independent Schools of NSW Teachers (Hybrid Model) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021.
