AddressClinipath & Bunbury Pathology is part of the Sonic Healthcare organisation which has a reputation as a quality pathology service provider, focusing on professional excellence, reliability and excellent customer service.
We are currently seeking a full-time and part-time Laboratory Technician or Scientist to work within Histopathology at the Bunbury Laboratory.
The main focus of this position being to aid in the diagnostic process of all tissue specimens with representative high quality stained sections.
Duties include:
- Accessioning of Histopathology specimens;
- Macroscopic dissection of simple and non-complex specimens as well as assisting pathologists with macroscopic dissection of complex specimens;
- Processing, embedding and microtomy of tissue specimens;
- Routine and special staining of slides and allocation of slides to pathologists;
- Performing specimen reception duties within the histopathology laboratory;
- Basic maintenance and cleaning of all equipment and machines.
The successful applicant must have completed a minimum of:
- A diploma in Laboratory techniques in the field of pathology, or
- A degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a science degree with subjects relevant to the field of pathology, or an overseas qualifications which has been assessed by AIMS as being equivalent.
The successful applicant preferably has experience working in a Histopathology laboratory. Demonstrated ability to work in an efficient, professional way both independently and co-operatively with others is essential as is computer literacy.
The shifts are typically performed across 5 days per week with availability to work on a rotating roster between 6am-6pm Monday to Friday with participation in the weekend roster as required.
