ABOUT THE ROLE
The HMAS Cerberus Base Manager is accountable for the leadership & management of the Defence delivery area. The position is responsible for both educational leadership and effective delivery of high-quality education. They will have demonstrated management experience and capabilities as well as proven stakeholder relationship management that will enhance the institute’s reputation and meets industry and community needs as designated by the Australian Defence Force. The role also has responsibility for complex internal and external reporting requirements in accordance with Commonwealth and State contract management.
The position is expected to lead and manage all elements of teaching and learning operations of the Defence contract in the pursuit of excellence and innovative delivery. By fostering and developing strong industry and community networks and creating a high performing, respectful and collaborative team culture, the incumbent will plan and drive the Defence delivery area towards delivery of agreed teaching and financial outcomes, ensuring that the student and client are at the centre of all we do.
The incumbent is a key and active participant of the External Contract Delivery and works to promote educational excellence amongst all teaching staff in their portfolio, manage financial and budget requirements, and create and drive business growth. The incumbent will build and maintain an engaged, effective, respectful team of staff, and a collegiate working environment for the Defence delivery area team and staff within key business areas.
The incumbent is expected to lead a team confidently and competently, ensuring that their performance capability supports Chisholm’s operational and strategic plans.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop a sustainable strategy and implementation program, supported by Executive Leadership, which enables Defence contract to be an educational leader in its area of expertise and contribute to the commercial growth and viability of Chisholm.
- Effectively lead the team of Education Managers to deliver ongoing improvement in the quality of services, business performance, staff development, and reputation
- Align all operational initiatives with the Business Group mandate for improving business performance, course profitability and Higher Education, School and Vocational Education & Training (VET) training delivery revenue
- Support and guide Education Managers to operate and adhere to the Learning Design Frameworks for Foundation courses, and oversee the consistent development of all learning and assessment resources
- Critically evaluate underperforming areas and implement solutions in consultation with the Manager
- Identify systemic improvement opportunities and support the development and implementation of solutions to improve operational performance
- Undertake an ongoing review of the Defence delivery and resources to ensure the achievement of the Strategic Plan
ABOUT YOU
You will have a Diploma in Vocational Education & Training (TAE50111) (or the willingness to undertake studies); or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) and relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in a complex management role, involving the management and leadership of a multidiscipline team in an education environment. You will also demonstrate strategic project management experience.
