About the position
ARAS is seeking applications from candidates holding a Bachelor's Degree with a focus on mental health and physical wellbeing such as Social Science, Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field for the role of Home Care Check-in Advocate in the Aged Care sector.
The Home Care Check-In Advocate will undertake safety checks on clients in a preventative manner, and refer to support organisations as an extended linkage service, where clients are deemed to be vulnerable due to social isolation, risk of harm or neglect.
The program is delivered in a consent-driven rights-based approach, in a pro-active preventative model, for older people in the community that may not access services, nor have family or community support, thereby isolating them with minimum human contact.
The program seeks to engage with the older person, gain an understanding of the circumstances impacting their overall well-being, and provide safeguarding options linking them to relevant services and support to enable a productive and connected life. Building rapport and trust with the individuals through this transitional period, the service will provide follow up until the individual has achieved greater community connection and support services.
About the Organisation
ARAS is the South Australian component of the National Aged Care Advocacy Program and is funded by the Australian Department of Health. This role reports to and works closely with the Operations Manager whilst maintaining a collaborative and productive working relationship with all other staff.

Specific employment requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree with a focus on mental health and physical wellbeing such as Social Science, Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field, for the role of Home Care Check-In Advocate in the aged care sector.
- Experience in the aged care sector or working with vulnerable persons is an advantage
- National Police Clearance (less than 12 months old).
- Working with Vulnerable Persons clearance (less than 12 months old).
- COVID-19 vaccination and current Influenza vaccination is mandatory.
- Current driving license and willingness to drive for work purposes.
