Brisbane Grammar School is a non-denominational boys’ school of about 1800 students (Years 5 to12) overlooking the Brisbane CBD. About the role of Hospitality Attendant
To produce and maintain high quality standards of food preparation and service within the controlled cost parameters. Assist with all catering within Brisbane Grammar School contributing to the overall performance of the department. Assisting to the general hygiene and cleanliness of the work area to meet the highest standards.
- Casual position - Rostered to meet the operational needs.
- Flexibility in start/finish times, and days of work due to catering requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that all aspects of the day-to-day operations are technically correct and within established guidelines.

Additional Information / Other Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform duties, also aid and undertake any duties within the role as directed by the Catering Manager
- Flexibility to work and meet the demands/needs of the catering department.
- Assist with the control of quality and quantity of goods purchased.
- Ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety are met.
- Willingness to learn more to improve job performance.

Hours of work
This position is casual, and hours are rostered to meet the operational needs weekdays including weekends.
Essential Skills / Competencies
- Knowledge of Food and beverage procedures and processes
- Ability to work within a diverse team environment.
- Follow directions toward portion control, cooking standards, and wastage.
- Health and Safety awareness of food and beverage service
- Maintain good client and staff relationships.
- Kitchen cleaning duties: ensuring correctly selected chemicals and methods are used for cleaning crockery, cutlery, pots and machinery.
- Manage workflow demands and processes.
- Flexibility to workload and demands.
- Understanding of proper storage and handling.
Desirable Skills and Attitudes
- Worked in a diverse food environment.
- Previous wait staff or hotel experience
- Hospitality customer service principles
- Housekeeping experience and chemical handling
