About the Role
The primary role of a TAFE SA Hourly Paid Instructor (HPI) is to provide a quality educational service of training, assessment, and guidance to students in accordance with relevant training package objectives. HPI’s may also be involved in the provision of consultancy services to industry/community clients.
The Foundation Skills program provides students with language, literacy, numeracy AND DIGITAL technology skills and confidence, enabling them to participate more effectively in the community, training and employment.
If you are experienced specifically in the specialisation areas of Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Education or English AS AN Additional Language, together with the qualifications and are keen to teach students, we would love to hear from you!

To be a successful applicant, you must meet the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards for assessors (Cert IV TAE) and have the following qualification requirements:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (40116) or successor
Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills Educator
- TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set; or
- A higher-level education qualification, such as TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111); or
- Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Education or higher. This may include qualifications relating to TESOL, adult EDUCATION OR vocational education.
OR
English AS AN Additional Language Educator
- A recognised university undergraduate degree or higher in EDUCATION OR equivalent with a TESOL specialisation; or
- A recognised university undergraduate degree or higher or equivalent and a recognised AQF 8 or higher TESOL qualification or equivalent.
Other criteria:
- Experience in LLND delivery to a range of adult learners and knowledge of Foundation Skills curriculum or training packages;
- Knowledge and experience in the use of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF);
- Understanding and experience in the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations funded Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is preferred;
- Must be currently eligible to live and work in Australia;
- Applicants to have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS);
