With over 400 employees across three venues, the HR team are looking for a passionate HR Assistant to join our close-knit and hands on team on a Parental Leave coverage role for a period of 12 months, commencing in mid-February 2024.
The Role
This role has a key focus on providing high level administrative and team support across all functions of Canterbury's Human Resources business unit, including:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for general HR queries and managing the HR inbox
  • Managing the employee lifecycle including recruitment, new employee system updates, uniforms, contract administration, onboarding and induction, and employee exits
  • Maintaining the HRIS system, including recording employee information and training data
  • Supporting payroll administration for new hires and terminations
  • Planning and co-ordinating training initiatives and managing training registers
  • Accurately maintaining and updating internal databases and employee files
  • Managing employee documentation and completing internal HR audits for compliance requirements
  • Supporting the HR team on a broad range of HR projects including reward and recognition, performance appraisals and staff events
In addition to displaying a professional and flexible approach to your work, along with superior communication, planning and prioritisation skills, to be successful in this role you will have:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally Cert IV or Diploma
  • Previous experience in a similar administrative role, preferably within a HR Team
  • Proficient in MS Office suite programs
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders both internal and external
  • Initiative and problem solving
  • Efficient time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Fair Work Act, Awards and WHS Act.
