Making history in the transport, warehousing and logistics spaces, this company employs hundreds of people across multiple, complex disciplines. The organisation is expanding, with new premises being established for Q3 2024, and the senior leadership team require a hands-on, people-driven HR, WHS & Compliance Officer to join their fast growing business.
Your Role
You will be an integral part the developing workforce, and required to provide strategic, operational and hands on support across the compliance, HR and WHS spaces. Backed with an existing HR, WHS and administration team, and by managing physical processes in accordance with policies and procedures developed and maintained by the corporate body, you will develop a positive and inclusive workplace culture, ensure legislative compliance, and proactively mitigate risk. Daily tasks may include;
- Managing ER process and fostering workforce relationships
- Recruiting, on-boarding, and off-boarding functions for an industrial blue-collar workforce
- Maintaining employee records including classifications, contracts, working rights, performance development and improvement records
- Providing advice and support to management on ER and IR matters and industry trends
- Managing employee and contractor reward and recognition programs
- Developing and implementing training needs analysis and organise training requirements
- Monitoring and updating contractor and sub-contractor quality control measures including contracts, induction processes, licenses, insurance policies, visa status and conditions, and related processes and records
- Providing key stakeholders with insurance, compliance and accreditation documentation on demand
- Conducting internal audits to verify compliance with accreditation programs such as FMMM - Fatigue, Mass and Maintenance Management, HACCP, Primary Industries and Resources, and others, addressing breaches and taking remedial action in line with company policies and procedures
- Undertaking ongoing hazard analysis and risk mitigation activities including site safety audits, gap analysis, risk assessments, development of SWP’s, policies, procedures, and other documentation in accordance with existing WHS Frameworks
- Investigating and reporting on all incidents / accidents / near misses
- Providing research and evidence based recommendations to reduce risk and improve safety and efficiency
The position is full-time permanent, and hours are anywhere from 7am – 4pm or 8am – 5pm with some after hours calls to attend to. The remuneration range is $95-110K + Super with excellent career growth options. The current location of the position is in the North West with proximity relocation in Q3 of 2024.
About You
- You have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within the transport or warehouse sector is highly desired
- You’re a natural problem solver who thrives on finding solutions and process improvement.
- You possess relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, WHS and / or Compliance and Auditing
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, and a competent and confident approach to learning and using multiple data management systems
- A current First Aid Certificate
- You’re a people-person and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, suitable for a diverse working environment
- Commercial acumen; demonstrable success developing improvement initiatives while maintaining operational efficacy
- Able to prioritise competing tasks to meet deadlines.
- You’ll be effective under pressure, and be comfortable working within a team or independently, in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
