We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Compliance and Investigations Officer to join the Skills SA, Quality and Compliance team.
The Senior Compliance and Investigations Officer contributes to the effective regulation of South Australia's traineeship and apprenticeship system by identifying, addressing and resolving compliance matters, leading investigations into highly sensitive and complex breaches of the South Australian Skills Act 2008 and recommending appropriate enforcement options.
Key outcomes:
- Lead investigations into highly sensitive and complex matters relating to potential breaches of compliance with the South Australian Skills Act 2008 (the Act), associated Regulations and Standards.
- Provide high quality, timely and confidential advice and briefings on complex compliance matters, including recommending appropriate enforcement responses to confirmed breaches of the Act.
- Provide expert advice on the operation of the South Australian Skills Act 2008 to internal and external stakeholders to promote increased compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise, build and maintain effective relationships with other government agencies and regulators to promote partnerships and sharing of information, as allowed under legislation, to enhance and promote effective compliance outcomes.
- Identify and assess potential breaches of the Act and provide support and guidance to staff in determining appropriate response strategies, from educational outreach through to enforcement options.
- Develop and deliver projects for the identification and prevention of compliance issues, including through pro-active intervention with registered employers.
- Monitor and measure trends in breaches and provide data for to meet mandatory reporting requirements as well to improve compliance systems and services.
- Significantly contribute to the development, review and updating of Compliance and enforcement policies, procedures and systems.
- Help to maintain a safe and healthy working environment by proactively reporting incidents, hazards and injuries.
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
