About the Role
The HSE Manager plays a crucial role within the SeaLink South Australian team by implementing and controlling health, safety, and environmental requirements, strategies, and initiatives. Our employees are our greatest asset therefore this role will support and continuously drive SeaLink SA’s strategic plan to ensure we are operating effectively & efficiently across the SA business units.
Working closely with the leadership team, employees, and other key stakeholders drawing on their expertise and dedication to assist in maintaining a safe workplace for the continued success of the business.
Reporting to the General Manager for South Australia, the HSE Manager is responsible for managing risk, implementing quality processes, and ensuring compliance through internal auditing, monitoring and implementing various legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and continually improve the HSE and Vessel Safety Management Systems.
- Promote a safe working environment and coordination of risk management processes.
- Continually improve employee and management education and awareness.
- Monitor training needs and the completion of marine training and emergency preparedness drills.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory and company safety requirements.
- Conduct effective incident investigations to determine contributing factors and root causes.
- Monitor the completion and effectiveness review of actions.
- Conduct regular site visits, inspections, risk assessments and audits.
- Drive, monitor, report and continually improve HSE performance.
- Oversee and assist in the management of injuries and workers compensation claims.
What we are looking for:
- A confident, experienced, organised, and results-driven HSE professional, with excellent communication skills both in the written and verbal format.
- Highly motivated and driven individual to drive change and continuous improvement initiatives whilst fully engaging with our workforce.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role.
- Diploma or higher in work health and safety.
- Trained in ICAM Incident Investigation.
- Exposure to ISO 14001 system development and maintaining certification.
- Knowledge of WHS, Environmental, and Marine legislation and ability to interpret applicable legislation.

This role is based in our Adelaide office, with regular travel to Mannum and Kangaroo Island therefore a reliable vehicle and drivers’ licence is essential.
