HSE Site Advisor working in the Delivery/Infrastructure Development group on a 12 month contract which can be based in Newcastle, Sydney, Wagga, Yass, Orange or Tamworth.
Primary Objectives: HV, Transmission Lines, Substations
> Manage and support the day-to-day operations of the project site for all HSE-related matters
> Ensure the application of Legislative and HSE standards to the project
> Support the project team and contractors with safety initiatives to drive project success
> Support the implementation of the project assurance programs for HSE compliance
> Support the investigation of incidents, injuries or breaches of HSE procedures
> Provide HSE advise to the project team members and contractors
> Review and support the development of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
> Assist in the preparation and delivery of project inductions
> Support the delivery of effective Pre-Start meetings and Toolbox Talks, and on occasion deliver these to workers
> Undertake HSE Inspections of the project site(s)
> Ensure incidents and hazards are reported as per SafeWork NSW requirements, and provide support in the investigation of incidents and resolution of hazards
> Report monthly on project HSE statistics
> Compile documentation for mobile plant in accordance with our clients Mobile Plant procedure
> Assist in administering worker fitness for work including fatigue management and alcohol and drugs testing
> Ensure that construction registers are available, updated and maintained
On-Site Environmental Support
> Support the Site Management team to ensure compliance with all endorsed environmental management documentation
> Ensure environmental incidents and hazards are reported as per company procedures, and provide support in the investigation of incidents and resolution of hazards
Project Team Involvement
> Work closely within a dedicated project team to implement a structured and holistic approach to all HSE aspects of the project
> Support the development, implementation and maintenance of HSE management plan/s for nominated project, and any sub plans to align with corporate policies
> Assist in providing timely and accurate HSE reporting for the nominated projects.
> Encourage a culture of hazard and near miss reporting and effective close out
> Conduct internal incident management including investigations and shared learnings, as well as monitor contractor incident management
> Work and advise within the bounds of the current accredited Safety and Environmental Management Systems
> All work is carried out in compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and local HSE and Environmental Plans.
Role Requirements:
> Demonstrated knowledge of HSE related operational issues associated with Infrastructure construction projects.
> Incident Investigation Qualification (we use ICAM) desirable
> Tertiary qualifications at Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety desirable
> Excellent oral and written skills, communications skills with strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas through clear and effective messages.
> Proven experience in implementing and managing effective stakeholder relationships, with demonstrated high level interpersonal skills.
> The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of WHS and environmental legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, Australian and international Standards and Guidelines.
> Competent in HSE Management Systems.
