Alpha HPA is an ASX-listed speciality metals and materials company focussed on commercialising its proprietary licensed solvent extraction (SX) & refining technology to produce High Purity Alumina (HPA) and related products for use in the bourgeoning lithium-ion battery and sapphire glass/LED lighting markets.
This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for the overall Health, Safety and Environment Accountabilities of the project from construction through to commissioning.
Critical to the success of this role will be your ability to collaborate & advise the Project Team on the implementation of the Project HSE Strategy whilst developing and coaching the teams to optimise their performance. You will also be tasked with the review, development and implementation of the Alpha HPA HSE Management plans as well as liaising with relevant stakeholders and developing the programs to support the quality and safety objectives.
This role will require an experienced individual who has an in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing construction works. Previous experience working in a brownfield or greenfield project delivery role with the ability to drive efficiencies & effectiveness, will be well regarded.
The HSEQ Lead, Project Construction Team will report directly to the Construction Manager and will work closely with the internal project leadership team as well as external consultants, vendors and contractors. The successful candidate will lead a team of two HSE Advisors and an Environmental Advisor as well as the permitting team.
This role will be offered as a fixed term contract until the practical completion of the project, approximately three years.

- Qualifications in Work Health and Safety
- Diploma of Integrated Risk Management
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- Previous experience in the training & facilitation of TAPROOT &/or ICAM
- 10-15 years’ experience working at a senior level in the areas of HSE, Construction & Commissioning in the oil, gas, petrochemical, mineral processing or industrial manufacturing sectors (essential)
- Prior experience in implementing Safety Management Systems coupled with a strong understanding of project life cycle management
- Experience in developing & managing a permit to work system (essential)
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a focus on creating a culture of project portfolio management excellence.
