HSE Officer

With multiple construction projects concurrently, we are seeking an experienced HSE Officer to join our successful HSE team. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting the project health, safety, and environmental standards, and for driving continual improvement in these areas. This is a hands-on position, suited to a good communicator who has the capability to manage the practical implementation of project HSE outputs.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages and administers HSE management systems, including preparation of a calendar of project HSE requirements.
- Conducts project inductions and facilitates HSE prequalification requirements for all personnel, process, and projects.
- Advocates for compliance and leads by example.
- Conducts regular reviews and inspections.
- Conducts Toolbox Meetings.
- Notifies, investigates, and reports incidents in a timely manner, including implementation of corrective actions.
- Promotes risk management, and the identification of opportunities for improvement.
- Point of contact for site grievances and injury management.
- Assists with specific tasks as requested by the Project manager, or the off-site project support team.
Essential skills & qualifications:
- Minimum 1 years’ experience as a HSE Officer (or similar role).
- Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (or similar).
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR.
- Valid class C license essential.
- Experience with and High Risk Construction Work and relevant Licenses.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Good computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and Safety Management Software.
Successful candidates are required to undergo a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening. Kennett also requires National police clearance, Aged Care Sector Employment Check and Working with Children Check as a condition of employment. Project dependent may also require a Working with Vulnerable people checks.
