Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager – Brisbane location with a large APS department
  
This large and diverse APS agency is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team, initially for a 12-month fixed term contract with potential for extension or ongoing engagement.

This department  manages a range of functions that pose potential high-risk environments for employees from a WHS perspective and offers an opportunity to lead a team of HSW professional who work closely with a diverse group of staff and managers to monitor and support gold standard safety and wellbeing strategy and procedures.

This role will be based in Brisbane, to work closely with a number of high priority functions and locations managed by the dept, from a risk perspective, as well as other regional locations (so there is the potential for some planned travel as part of this role).

Current salary range is $115,000 – $125,000 plus super (15.4%) with annual increases commencing March 2024.

If you are already an APS employee they can consider a s26 transfer at level.

The person:
To be successful in this role, you have to have expertise in:

• Mentoring and leading a WHS team to provide expert WHS advice to staff and managers, at times providing the escalation point for complex matters;
• Growing the capability of other WHS professionals to allow for sustained professional development of staff but also continuation of WHS and injury management functions for the dept/company;
• Managing the investigations of all incidents and required reporting, working closely with stakeholders to support the development of risk mitigation/prevention measures;
• Analysis of WHS data and activities for regular reporting and identify improvement opportunities;
• Preparing complex reports and proposals and corporate documents;
• A similar role for the last 5 plus years and relevant qualifications to complement this experience.

As this role is within an APS department you MUST be an Australian Citizen to be considered.  A baseline clearance will be required for this role, if you already have one that is a bonus, but the department will be able to sponsor a clearance if you do not currently hold clearance.
