The Australian Bureau of Statistics is looking to fill multiple roles in the
End User Computing (EUC) section within our Security and Infrastructure Branch, including:
- ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) Support Officers in the Delivery & Support team.
- Unified Communications ICT Support Officer in the Unified Communication team - Canberra location only.
About the rolesAs an
APS 4 or APS 5
ICT Support Officer in EUC you will be required to:
- provide technical expertise in the delivery of project objectives
- achieve results within a project or business delivery team in a multi-disciplinary setting
- deliver outputs from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered results to ABS standard
- build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
- contribute to building the future culture of the ABS.
ICT Support Officers in the Delivery & Support team are versatile and responsibilities include:
- Provide onsite and remote technical support for all End User Computing (EUC) connected infrastructure (including laptops, printers, mobile / smart phones, tablets). Some examples of products supported are Windows 10/11, Citrix and Microsoft Office Products.
- The management and distribution of the physical ICT laptop and desktop fleet, including updating asset registers. (ServiceNow).
- The configuration and support for networked MFD’s. (Papercut).
- The provision and support for ICT assistive technologies.
- Facilitation for office refits and moves of the ICT End User hardware.
- Monitor ticket queues to action and triage tickets, ensuring prompt and accurate handling. (ServiceNow).
Key duties of the Unified Communications
ICT Support Officer include:
- Provide support for Video Conferencing and Microsoft Teams infrastructure.
- Provide technical support for digital media streaming, content management and audio-visual platforms and infrastructure.
- Perform maintenance on unified communication systems such as configuration and system upgrades.
- Respond to any voice or video system incidents and resolve, working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with project teams to support delivery of new IT services and upgrades.
- Monitor ticket queues to action and triage tickets, ensuring prompt and accurate handling. (ServiceNow)
- Deploy, maintain and provide technical support of IT Collaboration infrastructure (on-premise and cloud-based).
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems.
- Resolve client queries (level 2/3 type support).
- Help plan and implement enterprise-wide, integrated Microsoft based collaboration applications and services such as video conferencing and media streaming services.

Qualifications and Experience- either tertiary qualification in a relevant ICT field or equivalent relevant work experience.
In addition to the above, as a high performing APS 5 you will also be expected to have:
- a higher degree of demonstrated technical and leadership capabilities
- a demonstrated ability to use judgement when dealing with challenges involving competing priorities
- a demonstrated ability to identify and facilitate new solutions or processes in supporting staff in a Windows virtual environment.
