The role of Immunisation Nurse - Lead Vaccinator is to oversee the Glen Eira Council immunisation program in accordance with Glen Eira City Council immunisation policy and Australian Immunisation legislative requirements. You will participate in the promotion of the service and oversee the team comprising of both administration and clinical staff.
You will be part of the Family, Youth and Children's Services Department - a team who are passionate about the best outcomes for children, young people, and families in Glen Eira through advocating, collaborating, and providing high quality services.
Other responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide clinical advice on immunisation programs, legislative requirements, and government policies.
- Attend all immunisation sessions and administer/assist in the administration of vaccines.
- Oversee “catch up” immunisation requests and assess vaccination records to determine future vaccinations required.
- Liaise with schools, kindergartens and Maternal and Child Health nurses in relation to matters concerning immunisation.
- Attend Glen Eira City Council Immunisation team meetings
- Ensure all health and safety responsibilities are maintained.
As a registered Immunisation Nurse with proven leadership skills, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with a broad range of people within our community. You will be innovative in the way you lead the team and be passionate about continuous improvement and best practice. Following on from a recent service review, you will be excited about implementing change and collaborating with the broader department and other Council units to deliver a contemporary and high-quality service.
The following is also required:
- Tertiary qualifications; current registration as a Registered Nurse with Nurse Immuniser Accreditation within the State of Victoria.
- Fulfil AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency) requirements for annual CPD (continuous professional development) hours
- Current CPR Certificate
- Current Managing Immunisation Emergencies Certificate
- Current Working with Children Check
- Certificate Department of Human Services for approval to administer vaccinations in accordance with Regulation 5(4) of the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 1995
- Current driver's license
- Experience in local government immunisation service delivery (desirable)
- Previous Leadership experience (desirable)
This position is subject to satisfactory Police Check, Employee Working with Children Check, Pre-employment medical and proof of three COVID-19 vaccinations or authorised medical exemption (in accordance with Council's COVID-19 Protective Behaviours Policy) prior to commencement.
