Pastoral Care at Peace is based on restorative practices and strong relationships. Staff seek to be relational rather than transactional. Through embedding restorative practices in partnership with Real Schools, we proactively engage with our students, to provide a high level of support for all areas of pastoral care: academic, social, emotional and spiritual, which increases outcomes in learning for each individual.
About the Role
The College is seeking a dynamic, flexible, relational and innovative Teacher to join the Learning Enrichment Department. The role is to support a small class by implementing explicit teaching strategies for individual learners and emphasising the familiarity of daily routines to build strong skill-based foundations for optimal student learning.
The Inclusive Learning Teacher supports a small class of students with diverse needs (NCCD, EALD, engagement and pathways goals) in integrating learning experiences.
This unique role is to design integrated units of work for English, Science, Math and Humanities for learners, targeted towards their individual learning needs, with a focus on students' personal learning growth, engagement and attendance. In addition, it requires a highly pastoral skills set to nurture and support these students.
This role is supported with:
- The equivalent of two days classroom release time per week to support writing individual learning programs, attend meetings and preparation time
- Small class size
- A dedicated learning space, with a specialised budget
- A support team, including Learning Assistant, Head of Learning Enrichment, Student Wellbeing Coordinator and College Nurse.
Criteria:
- Experience teaching English, Science, Math and Humanities to Middle School students
- Hold a relevant teaching qualification and current teaching registration
- Sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and experience in the provision of quality relevant curriculum program
- Developed classroom teaching skills
- Capacity and willingness to contribute to the wellbeing of students
- Commitment to upholding Christian values and ethos
- Ability to work in a team to achieve identified outcomes and sustained performance
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills, time management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication
