Independent Member - Audit and Risk Committee Member
Position Description
Gannawarra Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably skilled, community focused persons to be appointed as an Independent Member of its Audit and Risk Committee.
Council's Audit and Risk Committee plays an important role in supporting Council in discharging its oversight responsibilities for financial and performance reporting, risk management and maintaining a reliable system of internal controls. The Committee monitors, reviews, endorses and advises on these matters as set out in the Audit and Risk Committee Charter.
The successful applicant will be able to provide specialist knowledge and advice in one or more of the following: financial management, risk management, corporate governance, business management and/or internal/external audit.
Ideally the successful applicant will have a strong community focus with an understanding of the local area, and be able to provide direct honest opinions and advice to promote best practice.
Committee membership: The Committee consists of three Independent Members (one of whom is the Chairperson) and two Councillors.
Meetings: Quarterly in Kerang. It is preferred all Committee members attend each meeting in person, although in certain circumstances members can attend remotely.
Term of appointment: Three years
