FTSE Russell is establishing a new platform strategy organisation focused on developing target state Index capabilities to transform the core Index Platforms and scale growth for FTSE Russell
The Portfolio Construction Director will report to the Platform and Data Product Lead and will be a stakeholder in the development of the future state FTSE Russell Index Platform. The candidate will drive strategic and cross-functional projects to build world class scalable Index Construction Capabilities for our Index Platforms. This role will require the candidate to successfully interact with wide stakeholder group, designing solutions, owning specifications used for development, and ensuring sound execution. They will serve as a bridge between FTSE Russell customers, business stakeholders, other technology capabilities within FTSE Russell and outside FTSE Russell, and the Delivery organisation, they are responsible for building the roadmap in line with broader Index Platform Strategy and Vision. Critical to the role is a strong Agile and collaborative mindset, working well across many diverse groups and balancing outcomes that help drive capability excellence but also FTSE Russell goals.
Responsibilities
- Building and own roadmap for their capability area, communicating that across FTSE Russell to the wider stakeholder groups.
- Defines requirements for index definitions in a new platform, that support straight through processing from Research constructions and massive customization our of client requirement.
- Defines requirements for system to manage actual client implementation of index reviews, suspension treatment, holidays, staggering implementations.
- Defines the requirements for automation of Corporate Action implementations, impact of index input data and index constituents
- Oversees the Product team responsible for Index Calculation and Real time, defining requirements and needs for End of Day and Real Time computations, index valuations and snapshots.
- Develop proactive relationships with senior leaders across business units and technologists to design appropriate solutions, foster discussions and decisions around product & feature definition, feasibility, scoping, and development.
- Identify current client Portfolio Construction challenges and future needs. Propose value-added and cost-effective solutions that would allow clients streamline their process for their own product building.
- Work with the Platform and Data Strategy Lead to ensure Portfolio Construction and Corporate Actions Roadmap is in line with broader Platform and Data Strategy
- Work with other Product Leads and Specialists to ensure requirements are harmonious and dependencies are well understood.
- Grow, train, and support a Product Owner chapter, providing guidance, management, training, and skill development for FTSE Russell Product Owners.

- 10+ years of relevant work experience in product ownership / technology / business analysis / operations / application delivery in banking or financial domain. Experience in Indexing / portfolio management (desired)
- Exposure to operations teams in the financial industry, ideally linked to Indexing/Funds
- Experience in dealing with end clients.
- Experience in portfolio construction, performance and risk calculations, optimization techniques and statistical analysis (desired)
- Deep understanding of investment, business and technical perspective, ability to solve business challenges through technology
- Management experience with Product Owners, including training and career development
- Experience with Agile delivery and transformation
- Familiarity with Benchmark Regulations
