Job description

Murujuga Aboriginal Coprporation (MAC) is the incorporated body representing Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, Mardudhunera, Yaburara and Wong-Goo-Tt-Oo peoples, as Traditional Owners and Custodians of Murujuga. 

A place of outstanding natural beauty, Murujuga Cultural Landscape is nominated for World Heritage Listing for its more than one millions petroglyphs, dating back over 50,000 years, its cultural traditions spanning the same period, and as an outstanding example of human interaction with the environment through periods of significant climatic change. 

As the Indigenous Business Development Coordinator, you will : 

  • Design, implement and coordinate initiatives that support the professional growth and development of our members and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external partners and stakeholders to identify and secure new business opportunities and funding sources available for Murujuga Members.
  • Coordinate training opportunities, workshops, and events for internal and external audiences.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and impact of the programs and projects.
  • Provide guidance to Murujuga members on their business capabilities, employment goals and training career aspirations.
  • Foster a culture of learning and innovation within the organization and broader Murujuga membership.

Responsibilities of the Position and an Outline of Duties : 

  • Collaborate with members to identify their business needs and develop tailored solutions to support their growth and success.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses, industry organisations, and community partners to promote employment opportunities and create a robust network.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to attract employers and facilitate recruitment efforts.
  • Assist members in their employment journey by providing career counselling, resume reviews, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Stay up to date with labour market trends, industry demands, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Collect and analyse data on employment outcomes and program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination and integration of services.
  • Developing and implementing Business Development strategies to help MAC businesses grow and expand their operations.
  • Providing job search assistance and career counselling to job seekers, including resume writing, interview preparation, and skills assessments.
  • Collaborating with community organisations, educational institutions, and government agencies to identify and promote employment and training opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with employers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote business and employment opportunities.
  • Collecting and analysing data to assess the effectiveness of business and employment services and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Managing budgets, grants, and contracts related to business and employment services.
  • Prepare reports to stakeholders as required.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan and manage work activities, often with competing deadlines.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in changing plans to suit stakeholder’s and business needs.

Selection Criteria :

  • Qualification in business management, or a similar field. 
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience in Business Development, employer engagement, or workforce development.
  • A passion for empowering individuals, fostering economic growth, and supporting the business community.

Desired Criteria : 

  • You will personally possess a passion for supporting and improving the lives of our Members and Community, and previous experience working with Aboriginal communities is ideal. 
  • Strong knowledge of employment practices, labour market trends, and career development strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with CRM software.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Previous Recruitment experience.
  • Previous Business Development experience.
  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
  • Demonstrated report writing and analytical skills.
